Warkworth Pistol Club is an outdoor range unique in being one of only few clubs in Auckland with the ability to shoot any type of legal handgun. We have four separate ranges of 25m, 50m, 100m and 170m, with facilities including pneumatic target turners on the 25m and 50m ranges, electric target mover on the 100m range, NRA barricades, two sets of metal falling plate targets, pepper-popper falling plates, many various metal Silhouette targets, steel plate gongs, and target frame holders for any size paper or custom target. The 25m, 100m and 170m ranges have covered shooting galleries for all weather shooting and allow shooting of all pistol and some rifle calibres.
We shoot all of the common disciplines including ISSF, Service Pistol, HMS, NRA Action, IPSC and 3-Gun matches. Our 170m Silhouette range incorporates a 7 bay shooting gallery where restricted calibre long-range rifles can be used as well. We also offer Cowboy Action Shooting and Clay Bird trap facilities.
We shoot a reasonably active calendar of all disciplines together with informal practice days and the occasional club working bees included. Refer to the Calendar Page for a view of upcoming matches and events.
The normal club shooting days are the 1st, 3rd and 5th (if any) Sunday of the month from 10.00am until sunset. Note: Membership is full so casual visitors are not being accepted at this time. Organised Guests/Visitors are to arrive between 11:30am and 12pm as Duty Range Officer must be on attendance. Please do not arrive before this time and avoid being late as you may be turned away.
In addition, Club Members enjoy the free use of the range at any time on weekends, Black Powder firearms are permitted during the non-fire risk seasons.
As a New Zealand Pistol Association affiliated club, we offer the individual the opportunity to undertake the steps to obtain a B (pistol) and E (MSSA) category endorsements to your current Firearms License.
This is a comprehensive process, and the facilities at the club allow us to best educate and grade your performance on your path to these qualifications.
Our main purpose and goal is to educate, train, promote and develop the safe and responsible use of pistols and all other types of firearms within the Auckland and North area, by making available to club members a high standard of facilities to enjoy, learn and actively participate in all shooting disciplines. Although our main focus is on pistol shooting, we often shoot rifles and shotguns at our range as well.
